節電
こんなのを友達からフォワードしてきたんで掲示します。白いスクリーンの消費電力が74ワットなのに対し黒いスクリーンは59ワットだとか。この提言をうけて、グーグルが実際にそうしたページを作ったってなことだが、これほんとにグーグルかな。
Save energy while browsing internet!!!
When your screen is white, be it an empty word page, or the Google page, your computer consumes 74 watts, and when it's black it consumes only 59 watts. A guy Mark Ontkush wrote an article (http://ecoiron.blogspot.com/2007/01/black-google-would-save-3000-megawatts.html) about the energy saving that would be achieved if Google had a black screen. Taking in account their huge number of page views, according to his calculations, 750 mega watts/hour per year would be saved.
In a response to this article Google created a black version of its search engine, called Blackle, with the exact same functions as the white version, but with lower energy consumption. Have a look
個人的にはデスクトップを濃紺にしているのだが、同じような理由だった。でもワードの編集画面とかが開いていることがおおいんで、あまり意味はなかったかも。
